Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead a crew of up to five on construction or maintenance work, including inspection of contractor work and finishing cement and asphalt.
  • •Construct and install vaults; perform pipe locating; operate and maintain equipment in distribution machine shop or blacksmith shops.
  • •Conduct gas main tie-ins, fuse plastic piping, and perform leak surveys using gas leak detectors.
  • •Investigate services and distribution grid main extensions, customer charge orders, and meter changes; recommend actions to prevent interference with gas facilities.
  • •Prepare neat and accurate sketches for construction permit applications and records; temporarily replace an employee of higher classification when needed; perform duties of Distribution Operator I/Operator II classifications.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
  • •Valid driver’s license with a good driving record (eight points or less).
  • •Pass DOT Drug Test, DOT Physical, respirator fit test, required testing and training, and complete a background check and pre-employment assessments.
  • •Obtain a valid operators and Group A Commercial Driver’s License (CDLA) with Air Brake Endorsement (or obtain a Temporary Permit during pre-hire steps).
  • •Be able to be certified to wear self-contained breathing apparatus and handle odd shifts, on-call and emergency assignments, and overtime; lift/move ~95 lbs and climb in/out of excavation holes.
