Key Responsibilities

  • •Carry out planned preventive maintenance and statutory checks on water systems in line with Health Technical Memorandum 04-01 and ACoP L8.
  • •Inspect, test, and maintain pressure systems including booster sets, pressure vessels, and heating and chilled water systems.
  • •Respond to reactive maintenance issues such as leaks, failures, and water quality concerns across the hospital estate.
  • •Maintain compliance records, permits to work, and risk assessments/method statements (RAMS), supporting audits and inspections.
  • •Work with engineering colleagues, clinical teams, and contractors to minimise disruption to frontline services.

Key Requirements

  • •A mechanical engineering qualification with proven experience in mechanical maintenance.
  • •Sound knowledge of water safety management and pressure systems regulations, including Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR).
  • •Experience working in regulated or safety-critical environments, ideally healthcare or PFI settings.
  • •Experience maintaining water/pressure systems including filtration, plantroom maintenance, and point-of-use filters.
  • •City & Guilds or NVQ qualification in plumbing, heating, and pipefitting, including knowledge for Legionella, TVCs, and Pseudomonas in hot and cold-water systems.
