Key Responsibilities

•Guide engineering design, estimating, and analysis for electric transmission and substation protection systems, supporting capital budgets and performance enhancements.
•Develop and coordinate the system protection platform for AVANGRID with global affiliates, including integration, settings, networking, criteria, specifications, and commissioning requirements.
•Oversee engineering studies to evaluate equipment and protection performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and apply engineering judgment to solve complex technical problems.
•Provide expertise on transmission fault event operations and ensure protection schemes operate as intended, producing clear fault analysis reports with corrective actions and lessons learned.
•Lead and guide the Protection Engineering group’s technical training and development, mentor engineers, and represent the company on regional and national committees.

Salary: USD 128,000 - 160,000

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience; Master’s preferred.
•Expert knowledge of power system protection engineering, including national and international standards and compliance requirements.
•Theoretical engineering knowledge across planning, operations, and engineering design, including analytic modeling and calculation.
•Practical engineering experience with planning, operations, and engineering design, including construction/field experience and economic analyses of engineering alternatives.
•Ability to review, approve, and document engineering work to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements.
