Key Responsibilities

  • •Support and advise the credit card product team, including regulated payment services, to build a best-in-class business credit card for SMEs
  • •Advise the wider business on commercial and regulatory issues in cooperation with the regulatory compliance team
  • •Advise and support new ventures (including an SME M&A platform, credit score product, and insurance brokerage) to navigate regulation, build features, develop partner contracts, and maintain customer terms
  • •Identify and implement process improvements to make legal work more efficient by building and maintaining templates, playbooks, and decision frameworks (augmented using AI tools)
  • •Instruct and manage external legal counsel and manage the legal budget with guidance from the General Counsel and business heads

Key Requirements

  • •UK-qualified lawyer with at least 3 years post-qualification experience
  • •Knowledge of payments regulations, including the PSRs, EMRs and FCA Handbook, applied in a commercial setting
  • •Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including high value partnerships with regulated institutions
  • •Ability to perform thoughtful legal analysis to navigate legal and commercial complexity and provide concrete feedback for decision-making
