Key Responsibilities

  • •Independently design, plan, and execute experiments; analyze results; and report findings on assigned projects.
  • •Collaborate with operations on food safety and product development and maintain relationships in scientific communities to stay current.
  • •Provide technical assistance and guidance to plant QA and operational personnel on food quality, chemistry, and production issues.
  • •Oversee process controls and conduct chemistry analysis on test products to maintain compliance and optimize performance.
  • •Enhance efficiencies by evaluating ingredients, formulations, products, and production methods to improve performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Food Science (or related field) and 5+ years of relevant plant manufacturing experience in the meat processing industry (or equivalent combination).
  • •Strong knowledge of meat science and processed-meat functionality, including non-meat ingredients and their roles in processing.
  • •Knowledge of USDA and FDA regulations related to standards of identity, ingredients, nutrition labeling, and label claims.
  • •Experience with experimental design and statistical analysis, including independently conducting applied research in lab and red meat-processing environments.
  • •Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both scientific and non-scientific partners, including plant QA and operational leadership.
