Job Summary

Lead gas safety across the Defence estate, ensuring gas networks and installations comply with legislation and the Gas Safety Case. Provide technical leadership to Responsible Persons, audit training and competence, and drive continuous improvements in gas safety standards in collaboration with Defence Infrastructure Organisation, contractors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide professional leadership across the gas discipline, supporting Responsible Persons, operational teams and stakeholders to maintain safe systems of work and compliance.
•Oversee the appointment, competence assessment and ongoing assurance of Responsible Persons, including RP registers and training records reviews.
•Audit the implementation of gas safety processes, identify risks or non-compliance, and develop effective corrective actions with site teams.
•Offer guidance on Safe Systems of Work, review operational performance and drive continuous improvement of gas safety standards.
•Collaborate with Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), Gas Service Partners and management teams to deliver safe, compliant and efficient gas network projects.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 55,000 - 60,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Gas Safe qualifications CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1 and HTR1 with a minimum of 10 years' experience working with gas systems; plus previous management/supervisory or technical leadership experience.
•Proven ability to assess competence, manage risk and influence safe working practices across a complex operational environment.
•Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with operational teams, clients, contractors and technical specialists.
•Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status (IEng or CEng) is preferred to support role requirements.
•Experience delivering leadership in gas safety management, network operations and compliance within a safety-critical setting.
