Key Responsibilities

  • •Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for all patients prior to their appointments.
  • •Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting CPT codes, authorization requirements, and related payer information to assess eligibility, secure approvals (including prior authorizations for neurology-specific procedures), and prevent claim denials.
  • •Enter, update, and maintain accurate patient and insurance details in the practice management system.
  • •Communicate with patients to clarify discrepancies in the insurance information and to explain their insurance coverage as it pertains to our neurology services.
  • •Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other federal/state regulations related to patient information and privacy.

Key Requirements

  • •1 year of experience in healthcare insurance verification, medical billing, or a related role; neurology or specialty practice experience preferred
  • •Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 codes, including those specific to neurology
  • •Proficiency with practice management software and electronic health records (EHR); currently Allscripts (Veradigm)
  • •Strong knowledge of insurance processes and types of plans (PPO, HMO, EPO, Medicaid/Medicare) with emphasis on specialty care
