Key Responsibilities

  • •Decide and articulate the Accelerator’s strategy and serve as ultimate owner of portfolio-level decisions and direction.
  • •Survey the scientific and technological innovation landscape and set strategic bets on fundamentally novel platforms worth the foundation’s time and capital.
  • •Lead Activator sourcing, funding, and milestone-driven support for early-stage “seedling” concepts, including determining what to fund, scale, or kill.
  • •Build and lead the Accelerator team by recruiting, mentoring, delegating responsibility, and sustaining a culture combining scientific rigor with startup speed.
  • •Activate the external ecosystem by cultivating relationships with biotech, pharma, academic, and venture capital leaders; represent the foundation externally and steward quarterly governance and leadership reporting.

Key Requirements

  • •An M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent demonstrated experience in a relevant life sciences or biomedical discipline.
  • •A track record as a serial entrepreneur or venture builder, founding or leading multiple biotech or health-technology companies from concept through proof-of-concept and validation.
  • •Experience evaluating early-stage science and technology as an investor, technical diligence lead, or venture partner, making high-conviction calls under uncertainty.
  • •Deep technical fluency in breakthrough platform areas relevant to global health (e.g., gene-based/curative therapeutics, synthetic biology, AI-enabled drug discovery, novel diagnostics, or biologics platforms).
  • •Experience building and leading multidisciplinary technical teams, including senior scientists and program leaders.
