Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead and manage the Drainage Team, including managing engineers and supporting team resourcing and growth.
  • •Provide technical assurance for drainage design work, ensuring compliance with QA standards and UK regulations.
  • •Lead the preparation of design solutions, methodologies, and technical reports across drainage design stages.
  • •Manage projects and processes to prepare and check documents, reports, and other technical outputs; manage project budgets.
  • •Serve as Principal Designer on large schemes and mentor team members toward professional accreditation or equivalent.

Key Requirements

  • •12+ years’ experience in drainage/infrastructure/transport design and delivery within a consulting engineering environment.
  • •Working knowledge of UK Water Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and MCDHW for highway projects, plus Manual for Streets, Network Rail Standards, Local Authority Design Guidance, and SuDS Manual.
  • •Experience producing infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations, and construction drawings.
  • •Demonstrated drainage design and flood risk assessment experience for the Water & Transport sector.
  • •Ability to use or direct and check relevant software including Micro Drainage, Info Drainage, Causeway Flow, Civils 3D, and/or PDS, and hold a Bachelor/Master’s degree in a water resource/environment drainage related discipline (Chartered Engineer preferred).
