Job Summary

Join our North Carolina traffic practice as an Intermediate Traffic Design Engineer. You’ll design transportation systems using OpenRoad Designer, MicroStation GeoPak, or AutoCAD; work on traffic signals, ITS, lighting, and roadway concepts; collect data from sites, analyze conditions, and collaborate with engineers and DOT authorities on multiple projects to deliver safe, efficient corridors.

Key Responsibilities

•Collect, compile, and analyze data from sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, maps, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
•Perform traffic engineering analyses and inspections of site conditions, roadways, intersections, signage, signals, pavement markings, and transportation corridors to ensure compliance with standards and permits.
•Develop and design concepts for intersection and corridor improvements requiring coordination with authorities, sub-consultants, and clients.
•Design traffic signals and communication networks to support real-time corridor operations.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lay out roadways, establish reference points, calculate costs and quantities, and ensure conformity with specifications and regulatory documents.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
•1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in engineering and technical design experience.
•Engineer in Training Certification or ability to acquire within 6 months.
•Prior demonstrated knowledge and experience with DOT advisory circulars and procedures.
•Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
