Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead end-to-end delivery of UK highway design projects, ensuring compliance with programme, budget, quality, and client expectations.
  • •Serve as a technical authority for highway engineering, applying engineering principles to solve complex design challenges and reviewing/approving technical designs and engineering documentation.
  • •Manage multiple projects and workstreams concurrently, monitoring performance, milestones, financial targets, and quality metrics.
  • •Identify and manage technical, commercial, and delivery risks, ensuring adherence to QA, CDM regulations, Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), and sustainability requirements.
  • •Lead, mentor, and manage a team of up to 15 engineers and designers, supporting capability development and Lean/continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum 5+ years of experience in UK Highways Design with expertise in highway geometry, pavement design, and site clearance/highway infrastructure design.
  • •Strong working knowledge of highway design-related road restraint systems, and traffic signs and road markings.
  • •Strong working knowledge of industry-standard software, including Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, MX, PDS/Keyline, AutoCAD, and ProjectWise.
  • •Proven experience leading and developing technical teams, with stakeholder/client management and project/resource management.
  • •Strong understanding of UK highways design standards and regulations, plus health & safety, quality, and sustainability principles.
