Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the innovation agenda for post-validation NTD surveillance within the NTD Upstream team, shaping integrated post-elimination surveillance strategies.
  • •Conceptualize research, generate evidence, and build consensus across the community to define evidence-based approaches for integrated surveillance.
  • •Define and steward disease-specific surveillance architecture needs, including the optimal use of AI to enhance precision and efficiency.
  • •Design and oversee operational research studies to answer key surveillance-integration questions and inform global standards (including WHO guidance).
  • •Collaborate with Downstream teams and partners to support country integration efforts, represent the foundation externally in high-level forums, and drive alignment and co-investment.

Key Requirements

  • •Advanced degree (PhD, MD, MPH, or equivalent) in epidemiology, public health, infectious disease, or related fields.
  • •10+ years of experience in global health with expertise in NTD or other campaign-based health programs, disease surveillance, and multi-disease integration in Africa.
  • •Proven expertise designing and leading operational research in African contexts to address technical and operational gaps for post-elimination surveillance.
  • •Demonstrated experience applying AI or epidemiological modeling and engaging with digital health infrastructures to support public health decision-making.
  • •Extensive experience collaborating with Ministries of Health and National Public Health Institutes in Africa and influencing health policy and innovation in complex stakeholder environments.
