Key Responsibilities

  • •Prepare and set up materials, tools, and equipment for practical DT lessons.
  • •Support teachers and students during practical sessions, ensuring safe tool and machinery use.
  • •Maintain and regularly check workshop tools, machinery, and equipment; carry out safety checks and risk assessments with records.
  • •Manage DT resources and stock, including monitoring inventory and ordering materials when required; ensure safe storage.
  • •Maintain clean, organised workshops and provide basic technical repairs/fabrication support; assist with displays, exhibitions, projects, and events; report faults, hazards, or incidents promptly.

Key Requirements

  • •BA degree in Design or related field.
  • •Practical experience in a workshop or a DT/engineering/manufacturing/construction technical environment.
  • •Good knowledge of tools, machinery, materials, and workshop practices.
  • •Strong health and safety understanding and ability to support young people in a practical learning environment.
  • •Organised and reliable, able to manage resources effectively and work independently while supporting the DT team.
