Job Summary

Design, execute, and optimize experiments for mRNA production and purification within the process development team. Lead development and scale-up efforts to achieve target yield and purity, and characterize mRNA using electrophoresis, spectrophotometry, and HPLC/UPLC. Partner with MSAT, analytical development, and external clients to support tech transfer, contribute to SOW/proposals, and develop SOPs and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead development, optimization, and scale-up of mRNA-based process experiments to achieve desired yields and purity.
•Characterize mRNA samples using electrophoresis, spectrophotometry, and HPLC/UPLC to ensure quality and consistency.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including MSAT and analytical development) and external clients to support project goals.
•Support business development by helping create SOWs and proposals for external partnerships in mRNA therapeutics.
•Communicate experimental results and progress, and contribute to SOPs and technical documents.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 105,000 - 145,000 annually

Key Requirements

•BS/MS in Microbiology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years working with mRNA-based therapeutics.
•Hands-on mRNA processing experience including in-vitro transcription (IVT) and plasmid DNA linearization.
•Experience with downstream mRNA methods including Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) and chromatography (dT Affinity, IEX, RP-HPLC).
•Experience operating automated chromatography systems (ÄKTA Avant/Pure) and filtration skids (Repligen KrosFlow Kr2i).
•Expertise scaling mRNA production from bench scale to GMP manufacturing, including understanding tech transfer activities for mRNA drug substance.
