Build and operate production-grade data pipelines on CarMax’s Enterprise Data Services team, supporting streaming and batch ingestion for Analytics and Data Science. Design event-driven ingestion and near real-time processing, create distributed transformations, and deliver high-quality, reliable data to downstream consumers. Own pipeline monitoring and troubleshooting, implement CI/CD and automated deployments, and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and platform engineers in a hybrid Richmond/Plano setup.

•Implement event-driven ingestion and near real-time processing.
•Create transformations using distributed data processing frameworks.
•Write and maintain clean, testable Python code using software engineering best practices.
•Support CI/CD pipelines, monitor/troubleshoot failures and latency/data quality issues, and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and platform engineers.

Key Requirements

•2+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Software Engineer working with data.
•Strong experience writing production Python code.
•Experience building and supporting pipelines on Azure (or AWS/GCP).
•Hands-on experience with distributed data processing such as Apache Spark and Databricks (or Spark runners like EMR/Dataproc).
•Experience with event streaming/messaging such as Azure Event Hubs, Apache Kafka/Confluent Kafka, or Amazon Kinesis, plus CI/CD and data reliability concepts.
