Job Summary

Own the manufacturing development of Starship components by leading advanced welding and joining processes for high-reliability hardware. Develop, optimize, and qualify welding parameters across electron beam, laser, GTAW/GMAW, orbital tube, and resistance welding. Partner with design, tooling, automation, build, and test teams to improve welded assemblies using root-cause analysis, NDE results, and automated welding solutions. Set up qualification campaigns, interpret testing/NDE data, and evaluate new welding technologies to improve rate, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop, optimize, and qualify weld processes and parameters across multiple welding methods including electron beam, laser, GTAW, orbital tube, resistance, and GMAW.
•Support production operations on full scale welded assemblies by directing production technicians, specialists, and welders on correct techniques.
•Partner with design, tooling, automation, build, and test engineers to improve welded designs for manufacturing and perform root cause analysis with materials engineering.
•Set up welding qualification test campaigns and interpret mechanical testing and NDE results, including weld quality on development and flight hardware.
•Develop process control improvements using test/NDE feedback, set up automated welding solutions, and evaluate new welding technologies to improve rate, quality, and efficiency.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
•5+ years of experience with hands-on fabrication, manufacturing, or testing experience with welded assemblies.
•Advanced degree in welding engineering, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or physics.
•Expertise in tooling, automation, welding engineering, components design, and/or components manufacturing.
•Knowledge of welding processes such as laser, electron beam, OTW, GTAW, and GMAW, preferably with stainless steel and nickel alloys.
