Job Summary

Serve as the primary safety authority for facility maintenance and airfield operations under a DoD contract. Develop and enforce the contractor’s safety program, act as the OSHA Competent Person on-site, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and EM 385-1-1. Provide technical guidance, develop policies, conduct safety audits, deliver training, manage accident investigation and recurrence prevention, and oversee Worker’s Compensation and Federal DOT compliance in El Centro.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and enforce the contractor’s safety program for facility maintenance and airfield operations under a DoD contract.
•Act as OSHA Competent Person on-site and provide subject matter expertise on 29 CFR 1910, 1926, and EM 385-1-1.
•Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety legislation and maintain policies/procedures for regulatory compliance.
•Design and deliver safety training, chair quarterly safety meetings, and lead the Employee Safety Council.
•Conduct on-site safety audits, manage accident investigations and recurrence prevention, and oversee Worker’s Compensation and Federal DOT compliance.

Key Requirements

•Must be able to pass a background check.
•HS diploma required.
•Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related technical field preferred.
•Experience on similar projects and possess a 10-hour OSHA construction safety class (or equivalent) within the last 3 years, plus competent person training as required.
•Ability to create, implement, and monitor safety programs and training while evaluating contract activities for improvement opportunities.
