Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide the highest level of subject matter expertise on significant, high-risk, or highly complex legal matters.
  • •Identify and assess potential legal risks and develop risk management/mitigation recommendations; draft legal documents and conclusions.
  • •Regularly advise senior leaders within the Office of the Chief Legal Officer (OCLO) and the company; influence decision-making on legal matters.
  • •Take the lead role in highly complex, strategic, or sensitive matters, creating practical solutions where no precedent exists.
  • •Ensure compliance with approved outside counsel budget and may hire, develop, and coach legal professionals.

Key Requirements

  • •Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association-accredited law school.
  • •Be fully licensed in accordance with OCLO policy and in good standing, with compliance to continuing legal education requirements.
  • •Typically have 15 or more years of relevant legal experience, with significant experience in one or more areas of law and complex legal practices.
  • •Demonstrate significant subject matter expertise in Excess & Surplus (E&S), particularly Programs and delegated authority, including producer agreements and distribution-partner arrangements.
  • •Strong business acuity and ability to understand business goals and objectives as they relate to the matter at hand.
