Key Responsibilities

  • •Coordinate billet-bay activities after CCM to support smooth production and quality delivery to rolling mills/customers.
  • •Maintain traceability by marking first/last billets per heat and manually write heat numbers when marking machines are unavailable.
  • •Verify physical billet counts, identify non-conforming products, and control inspection bed placement and good-product/non-compatible sequence stacking per WI.
  • •Coordinate billet transfers with the rolling mills controller daily per working instructions; ensure consumables/tools availability for billet handling.
  • •Support quality checks and sample collection via gas cutting, coordinate with QC on delivered quality/quantity, and perform semi-finished product identification, segregation, handling, and storage per the QS program.

Key Requirements

  • •Execute duties assigned by the supervisor according to production requirements.
  • •Ensure billet traceability by marking the first and last billet of every heat and writing heat numbers when required.
  • •Verify produced billet counts physically and inform the CCM control room; identify non-conforming products and keep them in inspection bed.
  • •Have sufficient technical knowledge of casting and billet quality/parameters and experience as a billet handling operator in a steel plant (around 5 years).
  • •Ability to perform gas cutting and oxy-cutting/welding activities and experience with billet caster industry having gas cutting system (around 3 years).
