Job Summary

Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the Substation Department for the South-Central region, driving departmental business-plan goals, quality, staffing, and client relationship development. Serve as a trusted advisor to regional leadership through regular reporting and business plan audits. Provide high-level substation engineering expertise across project phases, oversee cross-functional technical delivery, and support proposal/business development while staying current on evolving substation practices.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage day-to-day departmental activities to deliver high-quality work aligned with WSP’s mission and culture.
•Achieve departmental business plan goals, including financial, technical, and staffing performance (resource planning, appraisals, recommendations, QA/QC).
•Apply advanced substation engineering techniques across concept, design, procurement, construction, and operations phases.
•Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates, including safety and phasing plans and infrastructure layout updates.
•Oversee cross-functional teams and deliver technical reports, presentations, and compliance/regulatory documentation to support multiple concurrent projects.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or closely related discipline) or equivalent experience.
•12+ years of relevant post-education engineering experience, including prior substation design experience.
•Demonstrable experience leading project or client teams, including developing and maintaining client relationships.
•Proficiency in electrical engineering principles and design/build practices, with strong knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and compliance record-keeping.
•Ability to perform technical computations and calculations and communicate effectively with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
