Key Responsibilities

  • •Build and evolve a world-class query optimization system, including flexible schema database innovations.
  • •Research and apply state-of-the-art query systems to guide technical design and vision.
  • •Identify, design, implement, test, and support query-performance and robustness features, including query language enhancements and diagnostics.
  • •Coordinate seamless changes across a large, feature-rich C++ code base with other engineers and teams (drivers, cloud services, tools, support, education).
  • •Mentor and grow team members through coaching, active leadership, and leading by example.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years of experience in data management systems, distributed systems, or large-scale backend engineering.
  • •Build production-level code for large user bases with robust design, rigorous code quality, and maintainability.
  • •Degree in Computer Science or similar field (or equivalent practical experience) with strong data structures, algorithms, and software design/architecture.
  • •Experience with large code bases in C++ or another systems programming language, including defect tracing and planning defect/compexity and design evolution.
  • •Strong foundation in database internals; query optimization is a bonus, with interest in compilers, language transpilers, or distributed storage systems.
