Key Responsibilities

  • •Own high-leverage caching and locking services with measurable impact on cost, latency, and reliability at multi million QPS scale.
  • •Build and scale Boulder (KVRocks-backed key-value store), including compaction, sharding, and domain isolation.
  • •Re-platform the Distributed Lock Service onto a strongly consistent backend with sharding.
  • •Contribute to standardized smart caching clients with failover, retry, and observability defaults so customers don’t need to manage them manually.
  • •Diagnose and resolve production issues (cache invalidation storms, replication lag, hot shards, noisy-neighbor contention) and turn them into durable guardrails.
  • •Collaborate with teams building on caching (Taulu, ML Platform, and product engineering across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo).

Key Requirements

  • •6+ years of full-time experience designing, building, and operating distributed, stateful production systems, with at least 2 years involving caching or key-value storage at meaningful scale.
  • •Proficiency in Go, or Java/Kotlin, with deep expertise in concurrency, distributed systems, and production-grade backend services.
  • •Hands-on experience with distributed caching technologies (Redis/Valkey, Memcached, or similar) and understanding their failure modes (e.g., replication lag, failover, hot keys, cache invalidation).
  • •Strong fundamentals in consistency models, sharding/partitioning, replication, and consensus, with the ability to reason about trade-offs.
  • •Experience using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) across the software development lifecycle (designing, generating, testing, monitoring, and releasing).
