Job Summary

Shape youth-focused product policy for OpenAI’s services, including ChatGPT, GPTs, the GPT Store, Codex, and the OpenAI API. Develop and maintain policy frameworks covering age-appropriate experiences, privacy, access, learning, wellbeing, and family involvement. Partner cross-functionally to align on youth needs and risks, translate policy into implementation standards and enforcement protocols, and use research and feedback from young people and families to improve policy over time.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and maintain policy frameworks governing how OpenAI products are designed, launched, and operated for youth, including standards for age-appropriate experiences, access, privacy, learning, wellbeing, content, family involvement, and related considerations.
•Partner cross-functionally with Product, User Ops, Legal, Safety, Integrity, Research, Communications, and Global Affairs to align on youth needs, risk, product launches, incident response, and external commitments.
•Translate policy into practice by creating implementation standards, product requirements, enforcement protocols, and escalation paths that engineering, operations, integrity, and trust and safety teams can embed into products and systems.
•Identify opportunities to leverage data, research, expert input, and feedback from young people and families to inform and improve policy work.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 210,000 - 290,000 annually

Key Requirements

•4+ years of experience in youth technology, trust and safety, policy, research, education/ed tech, child development, or a related field, including exposure to designing for and managing risks affecting youth.
•Specific and deep experience with product work, partnering with technical teams to shape responsible and age-appropriate product development.
•Expertise in youth technology, education, or young people’s experiences with digital products—particularly as these relate to AI—and the ability to translate this knowledge into practical guidance for product teams and leadership.
•Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate with product managers, engineers, researchers, policy experts, and executives.
•Comfort with ambiguity and taking work from zero to one.
