Key Responsibilities

•Perform structural due diligence assessments on existing buildings to evaluate gravity load systems, lateral force resisting systems, existing foundations, structural deficiencies and deterioration, and capacity for proposed occupancies and equipment loads.
•Identify compromised structural elements including corrosion, material degradation, settlement, overstressed members, and inadequate historical modifications.
•Develop structural strategies for integrating new facility requirements into existing buildings; determine strengthening requirements for gravity and lateral systems, foundations, and equipment support structures.
•Develop foundation concepts and design strategies for new and existing facilities; analyze building load paths and identify critical structural elements affecting feasibility and cost.
•Coordinate structural requirements with architectural layouts, mechanical loads, plumbing, civil improvements, and geotechnical recommendations; review and provide guidance to external consultants and Engineers of Record; support permitting efforts with AHJs and participate in value engineering.
•Contribute to development of structural design standards, prototype details, and scalable engineering solutions across the organization.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
•5–8 years of structural engineering experience in commercial, industrial, institutional, or mixed-use projects.
•Strong experience evaluating and modifying existing buildings.
•Experience with adaptive reuse, renovations, retrofits, tenant improvements, and rehabilitation projects.
•Strong understanding of load paths, gravity systems, lateral force resisting systems, foundations, structural dynamics, seismic design, and wind design.
