Job Summary

Support Rotor shop and Machine shop by running large CNC/manual lathes, VTLs, and mills while holding tight tolerances to OEM specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and manuals; apply geometric dimensions and tolerances; set controls for machining parameters; start/observe operations to detect issues and adjust as needed. Set up fixtures, tools, and materials for turbine and aero components, using both manual and CNC machining.

Key Responsibilities

•Run large CNC/manual lathes, CNC/manual VTLs, and CNC/manual mills for Rotor shop and Machine shop operations while meeting OEM requirements.
•Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements for turbine and aero components.
•Calculate and set machining controls (speed, feed, coolant flow, depth/angle of cut) and enter/edit computerized machine control commands.
•Start and observe machining operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance work, then adjust machine controls as required.
•Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders.

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Intermediate skill level including aligning, runouts, turning, and grinding on at least two of three machine types (Manual Lathe, CNC lathe, VTLs).
•Ability to operate manual machines as well as CNC machines.
•Working knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances; ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
•Experience with gas turbine repair and rotor/component machining is a plus.
