Job Summary

Build and automate reliable backend services in Ebury’s ClientOps squad. You’ll complete well-scoped tasks within distributed-systems foundations, maintain scripts and services to remove manual work, and improve engineering hygiene through testing, documentation, and code reviews. Pair with senior engineers on orchestration and architecture, participate in Agile routines, and gradually take on larger ownership as you grow. Hybrid role based in Málaga.

Key Responsibilities

•Deliver well-defined tasks within the squad’s backend services with guidance and code review from senior engineers.
•Automate processes by writing and maintaining scripts and services that eliminate repetitive manual work.
•Pair and learn by shadowing senior engineers on complex orchestration and architecture work.
•Maintain engineering hygiene: write tests and clear documentation; respond to code-review feedback.
•Participate in team routines (stand-ups, Kanban flow, retros) and progressively take on larger, less-defined work as you grow.

•Foundational proficiency in Python (or a similar language) for scripting and building small services.
•Basic familiarity with cloud environments (AWS or GCP) and how code repositories (like Git) work.
•Degree in IT, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience (0–2 years, an internship, or a strong bootcamp/CS background).
•Solid understanding of core programming, debugging, and testing principles, with eagerness to learn backend and distributed-systems concepts.
•A growth mindset: seek feedback, pair to learn, and take ownership of well-defined tasks; working English for collaborating globally; based in (or relocating to) Málaga.
