Key Responsibilities

  • •Administer KU export control for research by screening proposals, agreements, and collaborations for risk and export control triggers.
  • •Identify controlled goods, software, technology, or technical data and confirm when research qualifies as Fundamental Research (outside export control scope).
  • •Coordinate preparation, submission, and management of UAE permits, authorizations, and end-user certificates, maintaining accurate compliance records.
  • •Develop and implement mitigation measures (e.g., technology control plans and access controls) and conduct internal reviews for high-risk research activities.
  • •Provide expert guidance and training to principal investigators and research teams on controlled transfers, data sharing, end-use/end-user considerations, and permit compliance.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in law, International Trade, Compliance, Research Administration, or related field (preference for Master, Ph.D., or JD).
  • •Professional training or certification in export control or trade compliance (asset).
  • •Demonstrated experience classifying dual-use goods, software, or technology under national control lists.
  • •Experience preparing and managing export permits, authorizations, and EUCs.
  • •A minimum of 7 years of experience, with familiarity with UAE non-proliferation regulations and Goods Schedule.
