Job Summary

Perform certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light repairs on trailers and related equipment at customers’ sites in a mobile/field role. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues including electrical components, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, and brake chambers, and complete DOT forms and repair documentation using a company iOS device and TRAIT application. Work with high independence and manage parts inventory and service-truck operations.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform preventative maintenance and repairs, certified DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on trailers and equipment with little or no supervision.
•Document work by uploading pictures, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using a company iOS device and TRAIT application.
•Complete DOT forms and all other documentation accurately and on time.
•Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical components and perform minor adjustments and repairs across trailer systems including brakes, air lines, pumps/engines, liftgates, and brake chambers.
•Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck, perform safety checks, and comply with OSHA/EPA/DOT safety and environmental requirements.

Travel: Extensive travel

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (trailers); alternate combinations include further certification/degree or 5 years’ related experience.
•Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
•Be able to complete and pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and a DOT physical prior to employment.
•Maintain a current and valid DOT medical card (with more than four months remaining or complete a DOT physical if less than four months remain).
•Required or obtained within 18 months: ASE T8 (PMI) certification.
