Job Summary

Develop, characterize, and improve Chemical Vapor Infiltration (CVI) processes to meet performance needs for high-temperature aircraft brake components and friction applications. Lead multiple R&D projects end-to-end, including project planning, material processing and testing, data collection/analysis, and producing technical reports. Solve complex multi-variable technical problems, collaborate with the shop floor, and present findings to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

•Define, develop, and characterize new and existing CVI processes to meet customer performance requirements for high-temperature aircraft brake components and friction applications.
•Manage multiple R&D projects including project plan development, material processing and testing, data collection/analysis, and summarizing results in technical reports.
•Maintain responsibility and accountability for entire tasks/projects.
•Address complex problems with multiple variables and unknown solutions, demonstrating clear logic in proposed approaches.
•Support production investigations as needed, collaborate with shop floor teams, and communicate/present technical findings to senior leadership.

Key Requirements

•Typically requires a STEM degree and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 3 years of experience.
•Experience with process equipment such as control systems, valves, piping, instrumentation, pumps, and vacuum/heating systems for high-temperature furnaces.
•Experience conducting tests on materials and substances to meet performance and quality standards.
•Experience writing technical reports detailing methods and findings.
•Ability to manage large projects and multiple tasks, defining, identifying, and implementing new projects.
