Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, build, and maintain backend services for the data layer that stores and serves Camunda 8 process data across relational databases and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch.
  • •Own end-to-end delivery of engineering initiatives by breaking down requirements into concrete solution designs with Product and stakeholders.
  • •Evolve how process data is processed, retained, and exposed to customers.
  • •Improve secondary storage systems for performance and scalability, and build tooling for understanding, troubleshooting, and safely operating the data layer in production.
  • •Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations with Support and SRE to investigate data-layer production issues and feed learnings back into the product.

Key Requirements

  • •At least 7 years of experience as a backend engineer focused on backend systems and production data stores.
  • •Deep experience with relational databases (ideally PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, or MSSQL) and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, including query performance, indexing, and data modeling trade-offs.
  • •Ability to lead medium-to-large engineering initiatives end-to-end (3+ months), including solution design, planning, cross-team coordination, and predictable delivery.
  • •Comfort investigating slow queries using execution plans and index usage to root-cause data-related production issues.
  • •Strong communication and collaboration skills in a remote-first environment, translating requirements into technical work and collaborating via code review.
