Job Summary

Lead underwriting for life, disability, critical illness, accident and health insurance within HSBC Life in Singapore. Conduct medical, financial and compliance assessments using underwriting guidelines and risk frameworks, support partner relationships for risk selection, and refine medical/financial/residency guidelines for market competitiveness. Key Responsibilities

•Conduct medical, financial and compliance assessments in line with underwriting guidelines, risk framework, delegated authority limits and service level agreements.
•Build and maintain partner relationships to address underwriting matters related to risk selection.
•Support training and development of junior underwriters, including contributing to internal quality assurance audits to maintain underwriting standards.
•Review and refine medical, financial and residency guidelines to keep underwriting guidelines competitive in the market.
•Provide underwriting expertise and collaborate with stakeholders on requirements gathering, process improvements and workflows, including UAT/validation for implemented solutions and supporting new product and enhancement projects.
•Provide training and support users on new or enhanced applications/workflows and create, update and review Standard Operating Procedures.

Key Requirements

•Minimum 15 years of underwriting experience in life, disability, critical illness, accident and health insurance.
•University degree or equivalent professional insurance designation preferred (e.g., ALU).
•Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with understanding of medical, non-medical and financial principles.
•Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
•Familiarity with project management methodologies, user requirements gathering, process modeling and documentation, including knowledge of automated underwriting systems or a rules engine.
