Key Responsibilities

  • •Prepare and present meals (measure, mix, slice, chop) and make routine menu items such as sandwiches.
  • •Plate and serve measured portions according to dietician-certified menus, including packing sack lunches.
  • •Deliver and serve meals to detainees in housing units and process hold rooms, including driving a box truck.
  • •Receive food orders, unload trucks, and stock food stores for dry, cold, and freezer items.
  • •Wash dishes and food-prep items (manually or with mechanical machines) and clean dining/kitchen areas, including grease traps and hoods.

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum one-year experience as a Food Service Worker or related role in a commercial or industrial kitchen.
  • •High school diploma or GED required, and must possess a State of Texas Food Handlers Permit (and keep it current).
  • •Ability to become First Aid, CPR and AED certified with initial training and maintain certification.
  • •Fluent English—must be able to read and follow instructions and recipes in English.
  • •US citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident who has resided in the US for at least the last five years.
