Key Responsibilities

  • •Partner with Product and cross-functional teams to shape the roadmap, set technical/product vision, and deliver scalable, resilient solutions.
  • •Lead, coach, and mentor engineers, removing blockers and enabling effective execution.
  • •Ensure strong execution through clear planning, realistic commitments, and healthy team operations.
  • •Set high engineering quality standards and lead by example while staying close to tech and product.
  • •Work with other engineering leads across Wise to align the team with wider technical strategy and long-term architecture, including owning hiring and team impact.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 111,000 - 135,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •Strong hands-on technical experience in OOP languages (Java or similar) and modern technology stacks including REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • •Ability to architect for scale and efficiency, including leading design of an integration platform for onboarding and accounting software integrations.
  • •Proven experience leading and mentoring software engineers, helping them grow and succeed.
  • •Strong product and customer mindset with experience building customer-facing products.
  • •Experience working with and building distributed, high-scalability systems and microservices architectures.
