Job Summary

Hands-on role maintaining and scaling the physical infrastructure of a cutting-edge autonomous laboratory for high-throughput materials discovery. You’ll oversee equipment maintenance, gas and vacuum systems, utilities, automation support, machine shop operations, inventory, and lab buildout, partnering with controls engineers and scientists to keep experiments running reliably.

Job Function: Field Service, Maintenance & Skilled Trades

Key Responsibilities

•Maintain and repair laboratory equipment, execute preventative maintenance programs, and improve maintenance procedures to minimize downtime.
•Manage asset registry and documentation, update equipment layouts and utility matrices, and track maintenance history and performance metrics.
•Support utilities and infrastructure including gas, vacuum, cooling water, exhaust, and instrumentation systems; assist with capacity planning and infrastructure constraints.
•Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities, coordinating utility hookups and infrastructure upgrades.
•Provide automation and controls support, wiring, sensor installation, and field troubleshooting to integrate equipment with control systems.

Key Requirements

•5+ years of experience in laboratory operations, manufacturing, semiconductor, chemical processing, pilot plant, industrial maintenance, or a related environment
•Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals
•Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical assembly, with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
•An associate degree, technical certification, military technical training, trade apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience
•Comfort operating in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment with shifting priorities
