Job Summary

Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs for defense aerospace systems. Create safety strategies integrated into the Program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), manage safety budgets with Earned Value Management (EVM), and coordinate with CAMs, IPTLs, and product owners. Lead safety working groups and design change board reviews, perform system safety analyses across hardware, drawings, and requirements, and oversee lifecycle safety from design through disposal. Provide mentorship to early-career engineers.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs, including management, analysis, evaluation, and verification tasks.
•Create and manage safety strategies, integrate safety tasks into the Program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), and ensure contract and funding compliance.
•Oversee safety budgets and execution using Earned Value Management (EVM), coordinating with CAMs, IPTLs, and product owners.
•Conduct safety analyses of engineering designs, hardware, and system requirements; address safety interactions with suppliers and subcontractors.
•Manage safety considerations across lifecycle phases (design, integration/testing, flight test, production, field operations, returns, demilitarization, and disposal).

Key Requirements

•Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
•Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses.
•Experience writing technical reports and presentations, including briefing safety status to approval authority and safety review boards.
•Experience managing or owning a safety program.
•Active/transferable DoD security clearance is preferred.
