Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the roadmap and architecture for Bazel build rules, React Native bundling/codegen, and related long-term foundations.
  • •Mature Canva’s mobile release and deployment tooling, including OTA and staged rollout, to make shipping predictable.
  • •Lead the staged migration of mobile repos into Canva’s monorepo, ensuring build, test, and release continuity.
  • •Set CI quality gating strategy across the build pipeline to surface reliability/speed issues early.
  • •Evolve the React Native build pipeline into a shared foundation for web and mobile, and mentor engineers while aligning stakeholders across platform teams.

Key Requirements

  • •Deep, hands-on expertise with Bazel, Gradle, or Xcode build systems at production scale.
  • •Experience owning CI/CD or mobile release pipelines that other teams depend on.
  • •Strong native engineering background in iOS and/or Android, with a point of view on cross-platform tooling trade-offs.
  • •Track record scoping and delivering complex initiatives across multiple teams (migrations, monorepo consolidation, or build infrastructure).
