Key Responsibilities

  • •Act as the technical point of contact for assigned Starship parts and assemblies, solving emergent supplier challenges and mitigating high-impact manufacturing and quality risk.
  • •Own new product introduction by selecting manufacturing methods, identifying/reviewing suppliers, and developing reliable ramp-to-rate processes for new or changing parts.
  • •Drive technical improvements and engineering drawing updates to reduce defect opportunities and improve manufacturability, lead times, and cost.
  • •Review issues to determine root cause, implement corrective actions at suppliers and/or SpaceX, close actions, and re-source when appropriate.
  • •Lead containment activities and partner with procurement to vet suppliers and assess manufacturing processes and quality systems, managing supplier improvements.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • •1+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or supplier development.
  • •Experience with assessing supplier technical capability from equipment, operations, and personnel perspectives.
  • •Knowledge of supplier quality processes such as PPAP, APQP, and First Article Inspection Reports.
  • •Disciplined problem-solving experience (e.g., 8D) and understanding of quality systems (ISO 9000/TS/AS9100).
