Job Summary

Support the Department of Veterans Affairs Data Modernization by building secure, scalable data environments and improving platform usability. Lead cloud migration from on-prem, manage workspace personas and access controls, and provision workspaces in PreProd and Prod. Create Databricks catalogs and manage linked services and integrations between Databricks and the VHA Data Lake. Troubleshoot data access and pipeline issues, ensure VA governance and reliability, and provide white-glove user support.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead migration efforts from on-premises infrastructure to cloud-based solutions.
•Lead teams of data platform engineers, security teams, and analytics stakeholders to ensure compliant workspace operations.
•Build and configure PreProd (with live data) and Prod workspaces, including setup of service principals, access controls, and security configurations.
•Create and maintain Databricks catalogs and manage linked services, mount points, and integrations between Databricks and the VHA Data Lake.
•Troubleshoot user issues across data access, workspace configuration, pipelines, cataloging, and permissions; monitor performance and recommend automation and workflow improvements.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 195,000 - 225,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of experience in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or commensurate experience).
•Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
•Expertise with Azure or other major cloud platforms.
•Proficiency in data engineering fundamentals including ETL/ELT pipeline development and data modeling for structured and unstructured datasets.
•Ability to automate provisioning workflows and infrastructure using scripting or infrastructure-as-code tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, ARM, or Bicep).
