Job Summary

Lead and grow a planning consents service within a major infrastructure planning team. Manage and mentor junior staff, oversee development applications including the DCO process, and provide strategic planning advice to clients and internal teams. Coordinate multi-disciplinary delivery to meet budget and programme timelines, ensure quality assurance and health and safety standards, and contribute to business development and commercial tender preparation across energy transition, rail, water, and regional development projects.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage and grow the planning consents service, providing line management and mentorship to junior team members.
•Lead major development applications, including the Development Consent Order (DCO) process, and provide strategic planning advice to clients and internal teams.
•Ensure projects are delivered successfully on budget and within programme timelines.
•Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams for seamless project execution.
•Oversee planning consents deliverables and implement quality assurance and health and safety principles, while supporting business development and commercial tender preparation.

Key Requirements

•Significant relevant experience leading planning consent applications for large infrastructure projects across a range of consenting regimes.
•Proven ability to lead the DCO (Development Consent Order) process for major development applications.
•Strong client and stakeholder relationship skills, with existing relationships with clients and local authorities.
•A business development mindset with demonstrated experience winning work and developing relationships with existing and new clients.
•A degree in Town Planning (or related discipline) and membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent professional body.
