Job Summary

Assist in technical design and drafting support for electric utility transmission and distribution substation projects, focusing on physical substation design and/or protection & control. Under general supervision, develop CADD designs, plans, and material lists, collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with codes and project requirements. Ideal for candidates with hands-on drafting experience and a detail-oriented approach eager to grow in substation design within a Power & Energy team.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from sites, surveys, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to support substation drafting and design activities.
•Use CADD software to assist with basic design details and prepare drawings requiring a high degree of precision.
•Provide technical design support for substation physical and/or P&C design elements, following applicable standards and specifications.
•Verify calculations and interpretations of contract plans and specifications, escalating discrepancies as needed.
•Prepare substation design deliverables such as general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, conduit layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, and material lists under engineer guidance.

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma.
•Minimum of 3 years of relevant post education experience with drafting and design support experience, including exposure to electric utility substation projects involving physical substation design and/or protection & control (P&C).
•Familiar with drafting and design support principles, practices, methods, and techniques; knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
•Developing analytical skills with the ability to evaluate information and apply sound judgement under supervision.
•Detail-oriented, able to learn new techniques, manage multiple tasks, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
