Job Summary

Senior Traction Power Engineer responsible for studying and designing traction power systems for rail and transit projects in Canada. You’ll conduct AC/DC traction power studies, guide technical decisions, develop grounding designs, and collaborate across signaling, track, OCS, and civil disciplines on multidisciplinary, large-scale transit initiatives, mentoring teams and contributing to proposals and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

•Conduct AC and DC traction power studies, including load flow, fault analysis, arc flash, and protection coordination.
•Interpret study results to guide technical decisions and ensure compliance with Canadian and international standards.
•Prepare, review, and validate engineering drawings, technical calculations, and specifications.
•Develop grounding and bonding designs aligned with CSA, IEEE, and safety requirements.
•Identify and address risks related to DC stray current corrosion and EMI/EMC.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (master's preferred) and licensed P.Eng in Ontario or eligible for licensure
•10+ years of experience in traction power engineering for rail or transit systems
•Strong understanding of AREMA, CSA, EN, IEEE and related standards
•Proficiency with traction power modeling tools and system analysis software
•Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on large-scale transit projects
