Job Summary

Support the Legal & Compliance function as Legal Counsel – Africa, advising on legal risks and contracts for regulated payment services across Africa. Partner with the Legal leadership to monitor regulatory and statutory changes, help build legal and regulatory infrastructure, and provide pragmatic guidance for commercial contracting, payments, privacy, product, intellectual property, contentious, and corporate matters—primarily in English and French.

Key Responsibilities

•Serve as an integral member of the Legal team and liaise with other departments to anticipate requirements.
•Provide legally sound guidance and support to cross-functional stakeholders.
•Support legal and contractual work across commercial contracting, product development, payments, sales and marketing.
•Handle substantive legal matters across commercial, payments, privacy, product, intellectual property, regulatory, contentious and corporate areas.
•Monitor and respond to statutory, regulatory and policy changes to reinforce compliance and internal policies.

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•Law qualification and admission as a solicitor/lawyer, ideally in Kenya, France or UK.
•Fluent spoken and written English and French.
•Demonstrable legal negotiation and drafting experience from a reputable law firm or similar in-house role.
•Minimum 4 years of post-qualification legal experience.
•Broad legal experience including commercial, payments, product and intellectual property.
