Job Summary

Embedded in the Fuel Handling System (FHS) team, you’ll build and improve hardware that handles nuclear fuel for sodium-cooled microreactors. Work full-time in the Austin factory with welders, machinists, designers, and test engineers to take parts from drawings to working assemblies. Own producibility for assigned subassemblies, develop repeatable instructions/fixtures, diagnose fabrication issues, and support commissioning at the reactor facility in Idaho with occasional travel.

Key Responsibilities

•Own producibility of assigned welded structures, machined parts, sheet metal/bent parts, and assembly fixtures.
•Work directly with welders, machinists, and assembly technicians on the factory floor.
•Develop and refine work instructions, fixtures, and tooling for repeatable builds.
•Support dimensional inspection and metrology for critical features while coordinating with outside vendors.
•Help build, modify, and rework test rigs and prototype hardware, diagnose fabrication issues, and maintain as-built records.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on manufacturing/technician experience.
•1–3 years of manufacturing engineering, fabrication, or shop experience.
•Hands-on skills in at least one of: welding, machining, sheet metal, assembly, or inspection.
•Comfort reading mechanical drawings, GD&T callouts, and weld symbols.
•Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and willingness to perform hands-on fabrication and assembly work.
