Advance tactile sensing toward human-level capability for a home humanoid robot by developing sensing systems that capture the structure and dynamics of physical contact. Drive iterative cycles of design, fabrication, testing, and refinement to improve performance across spatial resolution, temporal response, dynamic range, robustness, and durability. Establish benchmarking versus human tactile capability and other state-of-the-art sensors, and help transition promising concepts toward integration with robotic manipulation.
