Key Responsibilities

  • •Manage subordinates’ activities related to defense of lawsuits and GEICO’s UM/UIM, PIP, and subrogation matters.
  • •Interview and approve applicants; conduct and review performance appraisals; approve personnel changes; counsel and take disciplinary action as needed.
  • •Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda; render opinions on liability, damages, and value for the Claims Department.
  • •Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, discovery, including depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath.
  • •Train and supervise less experienced attorneys and assist as first/second chair counsel; monitor bar and CLE requirements and provide feedback on file handling and expenses.

Salary: USD 166,050 - 260,350 annually

Key Requirements

  • •People management experience, preferably managing attorneys.
  • •Licensed in good standing to practice law in applicable jurisdictions, with required CLE maintenance.
  • •Minimum of ten years of litigation experience, including insurance defense or personal injury.
  • •Ability to travel as required for trials, hearings, depositions, and conferences.
  • •Ability to research laws and draft legal briefs, opinions, memoranda, and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery.
