Serve as a subject matter expert for payments compliance across ByteDance and TikTok, translating complex multi-jurisdictional regulations into actionable legal guidance for product teams and business stakeholders. Standardize global compliance guidelines and risk assessment frameworks while leading cross-functional and multi-regional initiatives to mitigate legal risk.

Key Responsibilities

•Act as subject matter expert for legal payment compliance, building trust with Product teams and the wider business to foster a proactive compliance culture.
•Provide strategic advice and continuous review of laws, regulations, and payment network rules, focusing on money transfer, e-money, payment tokens, AML, and stored value/prepaid instruments.
•Partner with Product, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and other teams to mitigate risk and enable compliant product development and global payments initiatives.
•Translate and communicate complex legal and regulatory concepts into actionable guidance for product teams (including Creator Monetization) and external stakeholders.
•Standardize global payment legal guidelines and risk assessment frameworks, managing escalations and leading multi-regional projects and partner engagement strategies.

Key Requirements

•Qualified lawyer with experience advising and reviewing payment regulatory matters and providing strategic compliance oversight in fintech or highly regulated environments.
•Extensive legal/regulatory expertise in consumer-facing financial services, including money transmission, e-money, AML, sanctions, and financial crime frameworks.
•Ability to analyze complex legislation and regulatory guidance and synthesize clear, pragmatic legal advice that mitigates legal risk while supporting business objectives.
•Ability to build trust and influence business leaders, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders through hands-on legal and compliance initiative leadership.
•Preferred: experience advising payments or regulatory matters in the Creator Economy or fast-scaling tech/fintech sectors, including product compliance and harmonizing multi-regional frameworks.
