Job Summary

Provide short-term, non-medical counseling and support to military service members and their families at installations, with opportunities to train staff, present health and wellness topics, and coordinate referrals. This role covers on-demand, surge, and school-based assignments, often in dynamic DoD environments and DoDEA settings, during the May–September summer period and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide non-medical, short term, solution focused counseling directly to adults, children, and youth of service members, including assessment, brief counseling, referral to resources, and follow-up.
•Deliver training and health and wellness presentations; participate in health fairs and base/installation activities.
•Support CYB counselors and adult MFLC services across a variety of military community settings, including schools and youth programs.
•Enter counselor activity data daily via smartphone or web application and maintain confidentiality/anonymity of service and family members.
•Develop and maintain relationships with installation POCs and community resources; adapt to site-specific requirements and coordinate linkage to services.

Key Requirements

•Master’s degree in a mental health related field (e.g., psychology, social work) from an accredited program.
•Independent licensure to practice mental health counseling, therapy, or social work in any state.
•Ability to provide short-term, solution-focused counseling to adults, children, and youth.
•Experience working in school settings or DoDEA/DoD environments preferred.
•Willingness to cover assignments of varying length and on-demand/surge as needed, including weekends.
