Job Summary

Join Airbnb’s Service Tools team to empower backend developers with faster build, test, and deployment cycles. You’ll build a next-gen build system (Bazel), integrate CI/CD tooling, enhance the editor experience, shape technical strategy to boost Developer Experience and Velocity, and collaborate across Airbnb engineering teams as a high-impact player/coach.

Key Responsibilities

•Build our next-gen build system using the latest technologies (e.g., Bazel).
•Work on integrations between the build system and CI/CD tooling (e.g., merge queues, code coverage, integration testing).
•Improve the editor (e.g., IntelliJ) experience for all backend developers.
•Help shape the technical strategy that directly moves core metrics (Developer Experience, Developer Velocity, Debuggability, Resilience and Reliability) while reducing cost.
•Partner with engineering leaders across all Airbnb teams for adoption of the new capabilities. Your customers will be all engineers at Airbnb.

Key Requirements

•Fluent in English at a professional level.
•6+ years of industry experience in software engineering.
•Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
•Proficiency in one or more back-end server languages (Java/Ruby/Go/C++/etc.).
•Experience with architectural patterns of high-scale distributed products/services, including APIs, data pipelines, and efficient algorithms.
