Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the Ecommerce Journey by designing and building the backend systems powering the core marketplace—from item discovery and search through checkout, payment, and post-purchase.
  • •Integrate FleekSort’s AI classification engine with the marketplace experience to ensure grading, pricing, and categorisation flow into listings, search, and buyer workflows.
  • •Design for scale by architecting systems that can handle 500K+ items per month today with a path to millions.
  • •Shape technical direction by contributing to backend architectural decisions and engineering standards for a fast-growing team.
  • •Mentor and elevate teammates through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing, raising the technical bar across the team.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 80,000 - 140,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •3–6 years of professional backend engineering experience building and shipping production systems that handle real traffic and real money.
  • •Strong fundamentals in system design, data modelling, and API architecture; able to design a service from scratch and reason about failure modes.
  • •Experience with Node.js and TypeScript (or strong proficiency in a comparable stack)
  • •Consumer tech background with experience at a marketplace, fintech, or consumer product company
  • •Startup or scale-up experience with fast deployment cycles and high ownership, and comfort with ambiguity
