Key Responsibilities

  • •Build, operate, and maintain Fastly’s global network footprint for the Edge Cloud Platform.
  • •Respond to significant traffic incidents and lead network incidents, resolving failure scenarios using IP routing expertise, especially BGP.
  • •Write performant, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to improve the codebase and team processes.
  • •Develop and iterate tools and automation systems that improve how the network is operated and built.
  • •Innovate monitoring and performance analytics for end-user experience, and mentor team members on global routing complexities in an anycast-heavy environment.

Key Requirements

  • •Experience with internet protocols and practices including TCP/IP, BGP, Anycast, and DNS.
  • •Experience with automation and coding (e.g., Python or similar).
  • •Proficiency with Tier 1 Internet service providers, Internet exchanges, and cloud providers.
  • •Ability to analyze internet traffic patterns using flow-based tools and to use monitoring/visibility tools such as Graphite/Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk.
  • •Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems administration and network stack optimization, plus DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Ansible).
